Increase the fun and reduce the cost this holiday!

“I’m bored”. It’s something Mums and Dads know all too well coming from their kids every holiday.

Why not spice things up a bit in the next upcoming holidays with a mix of excitement and fun, at very low costs!

Need some cheap and simple ideas on spending quality time together? Look no further!

Plan a treasure hunt.

Although this may take a bit of planning. Seeing the joy it brings and smile on their faces will all be worth it! If you are feeling creative, this is a great way to get the whole family involved. Hide clues around the house or even your neighbourhood park. Either join in on the quest to find the “hidden buried treasure” or sit back, relax and watch the kids go for gold!

Camp out in the back yard.

Everybody loves camping. Even if you don’t, the kids most definitely will! It’s not always possible for parents to get away, so what better way to have the camping experience in the comfort of your own backyard. Set up a tent, dinner on the barbie, sit out under the stars, sing songs, read books and hot chocolates before bed. Perfect!

Play dates.

There is nothing more that kids love and need than to play with friends. Inviting their friends over, setting up little arts and crafts, board games or backyard activities is a great way to occupy the kids and boost their social skills. It can even be as simple as kicking a soccer ball outside or taking them to the park. This is also beneficial for mum and dad when your play friend’s parents return the favour, you get some time out for yourself too. It’s a win-win situation!

Sun, sand and sea are all free.

Warmer weather is creeping up on us and some of the best beaches are right here at your fingertips in Wollongong! So why don’t you pack a bag and hit the coast! Draw shapes in the sand, build sand castles, dig around for sea shells and splash in the surf! None of this costs a penny and if you pack your own lunch, another cost free day!

 Be a kid yourself again.

Taking the time to really remember what it was like to be a kid, and the things you used to enjoy is a great way to come up with ideas both you and the little ones will love. As simple as going to creeks or the botanic gardens to feed the ducks, a bus or train ride, playing on swings or building pillow forts!

Precious time with your family doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend lots of money. There are endless low-cost activities you can enjoy with your kids this holiday, the only thing stopping you is your imagination! Why not explore these ideas and give your kids a holiday to remember!
